Tunnel axial fans (KTF series) for permanent ventilation systems, available in reversible or unidirectional configurations and in horizontal or vertical arrangement, up to 3 m in diameter, designed for installation in ventilation rooms or shafts. Options include anti-stall devices or stall-free design, with high-temperature certification according to EN 12101-3 up to (400 °C/120 minutes).

KrugerUVD_AxialFanTemporary-1-1

Axial Fans for Temporary Ventilation

Axial fans for temporary ventilation (KTF & MXA series) during tunnel construction, supporting a safe working environment via flexible or rigid ducted ventilation systems. Designed for rough handling and practical installation on construction sites, with variable-speed operation available when required.

KrugerUVD_Dampers-2

Dampers

Heavy-duty dampers for tunnel and metro ventilation applications, designed for fan isolation and airflow control, including square multiblade dampers for axial fans and circular butterfly dampers for jet fans. Manufactured in galvanised mild steel or high-grade stainless steel (AISI 304 or 316) with high-temperature certification and project-specific testing when required.

KrugerUVD_SoundAttenuators-2

Sound attenuators

Bespoke acoustic silencers designed to meet noise requirements in underground infrastructure without compromising performance (airflow and pressure). Available as baffles-type silencers or axial-fan installations, and cylindrical-type silencers for direct fan connection via circular flanges. Acoustic performance is selected against octave-band insertion-loss targets while minimising pressure drop.

KrugerUVD_ElectricalPanel-2

Electrical panels with VSD

Electrical panels for tunnel ventilation systems are available in multiple configurations, including star–delta starters, soft starters, and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) solutions. VSD panels enable precise fan control, optimised starting, improved operational efficiency and advanced control functions. Configurations can be tailored for integration with ventilation equipment and wider tunnel infrastructure control systems.

Factory testing

Factory Acceptance Tests validate performance and critical behaviours in controlled conditions before shipment, helping prevent failures, rework and delays on site.

Advanced Factory Acceptance Test (AFAT)

Advanced Factory Acceptance Tests (AFAT) is a standardised factory testing procedure comprising 10 tests. AFAT not only verifies fan performance parameters as in conventional FAT, but also conducts additional tests to secure the mechanical and electrical integrity of fans. AFAT can detect latent defects, design inconsistencies, and manufacturing deviations that often go unnoticed during a conventional FAT. Through AFAT, stakeholders in a tunnel ventilation project can reduce the risk of unexpected fan failures, enhancing operational safety and minimizing costly downtimes.

Services

Beyond equipment supply, on-demand professional services are available, delivered by specialists with extensive experience in underground ventilation. Services are tailored to project requirements and can support consultants, EPCs, and operators from early-stage definition through to delivery and handover.

Support in tunnel ventilation design (CFD)

KrugerUVD_CFD
Ventilation studies and CFD simulations are available for both normal and emergency operating modes. These analyses assess key design parameters such as critical velocity, smoke-control strategy, pressure distribution, and airflow control, supporting optimisation of the ventilation system, and equipment configuration.

Supervision of installation

KrugerUVD_Supervision
Specialist on-site support is available to verify correct equipment installation, with particular attention to alignment, clearances, vibration control, and control-system interfaces. This helps identify issues early, reduce integration risk, and improve readiness ahead of commissioning.

Commissioning & training

KrugerUVD_Commissioning
Specialist commissioning and training services are available to ensure ventilation equipment performs in line with project specifications. Commissioning validates operating modes, emergency sequences, and control-system functions. Training is delivered to operators and maintenance teams, supported by manuals and structured handover documentation.

Digitalising tunnel ventilation for safer and smarter operations

A complete tunnel ventilation digitalisation solution is available to turn operational data into actionable insight. It improves reliability, enhances safety, and delivers measurable savings across installation, operation, and maintenance.

Monitoring and Data Acquisition Card (MDAC)

The MDAC collects key fan signals such as vibration, temperature, performance values, and alarms. Data transfer via Ethernet enables diagnostics, trending, and integration with tunnel control systems.

Fan Performance Report

Using acquired data, operational status and ventilation equipment performance can be analysed and summarised in periodic reports (typically monthly), tracking key parameters, identifying trends, and flagging potential anomalies.

Condition‑Based maintenance

A key outcome of digitalised ventilation systems is condition-based maintenance. Continuous monitoring helps detect deviations early, supporting proactive maintenance planning, reduced failures, and less unplanned downtime.

Certification for compliance and safety assurance

To ensure regulatory compliance and safety in underground infrastructure, critical ventilation equipment such as fans and dampers should be tested and certified in accredited laboratories according to relevant international standards.

Aerodynamic Certifications (AMCA)

AMCA-certified testing may cover aerodynamic performance of axial fans (AMCA 210), jet fan thrust (AMCA 250), and acoustic performance (AMCA 300). Independent certification verifies declared performance data and provides a transparent basis for comparison with other AMCA-certified products.

High-temperature certifications (APPLUS and TÜV)

Ventilation fans used in underground infrastructure must withstand high temperatures to enable smoke exhaust during fire events. Capability can be demonstrated through testing and certification in accredited laboratories in accordance with EN 12101-3, with certification levels up to F400 (400 °C for 120 minutes).
